All aboard the Taranto Train

This is the most tongue twister song title ever. But how this song has been built? Here's what happened.

First, Music!

We wrote the music of Taranto Train to Toronto Town starting from bass riff Basetta came up with. The guitar parts have been built around the line with some balcanic scales added on top on to give homage to Valadis’ country of origin,

The bass solo parts sounded so Faith No More that we decided to leave the guitar arrangement to a minimum. No guitar solo pls!

After listening to the first draft, our comment was: “This song sounds like a train that is about to hit you!

Here, The Lyrics!

During one of my regular ‘beer nights’ with friends, I’ve found funny that one of them was born in Taranto, while another one in Toronto. You can write them easily replacing the vowels, but what about pronouncing them?

I can assure u that trying to make an Italian pronounce Toronto with a Canadian accent, and a Canadian pronounce Taranto with an Italian accent is a nightmare.

And it was.

Told this story to my wife while listening the rehearsal recording, she pointed out: "This song sounds is like a Train from Taranto to Toronto."

Problem solved!

How We Entered The Other Side (And Pirates Studio too)

After few months gigging in London and polishing our songs on and off stage, on May 2017 we decided to book few hours of Pirate Studios in Earlsfield.

With 4 microphones, a Focusrite and a Macbook we recorded some early versions for 'internal 'use. But then we found that the recording had a pretty good quality so we decided to do a post-production on one of the song to be release as an 'Hello World' song.

After a couple of days spent on Logic Pro, Dan was able to deliver the song  The Other Side (Pirate Session). Now available on Spotify, iTunes, Google play
Even not being a super production,  it quite nails Gramma Vedetta overall raw sound.

What do you think?
